Carl Brunsdon is a graduate of the City of Leeds College of Music. After studying for a degree in Jazz, Contemporary and Pop Music he pursued a post graduate course and qualified as a professional teacher. For ten years, he was a successful and award-winning Head of Music at a secondary school in Cheshire. Carl still delivers music tuition in music technology, composition, saxophone, clarinet and bass alongside his career as a professional performing musician.

Carl's instruments include saxophone, clarinet, bass guitar, double bass, guitar, keys, drums and percussion. He employs these skills in a variety of bands and can currently be seen and heard regularly gigging both nationally and internationally with 'Brit Floyd' and 'The Classic Rock Show'. This naturally followed an extensive bout of touring with 'The Australian Pink Floyd' from 2007-2010 throughout the UK, Europe, North and South America and Canada. Carl's touring with these bands has taken him to various large international venues including London's Royal Albert Hall and O2 Arena, San Francisco's Fillmore and Montreal's Bell Center. He also frequently appears at large scale festivals such as Isle of Wight, Glastonbury, Download, and Holland's Bospop.

Carl has performed on sax with 'FM', 'Angels In White', 'The Box Groove Coolers' and 'The New Mastersounds' and has played bass with 'Bernie Marsden (Whitesnake)', 'Mary Lee's Corvette', 'Chris Cook' and Jim Kirkpatrick's 'Heavy Weather'. He also occasionally appears on the classical music circuit performing David Fanshawe's 'African Sanctus' with Simone Rebello's 'Backbeat'. Carl has featured as a session musician and guest producer on a number of released tracks including Sonic Generation's acclaimed 'Absolute Magnitude' and 'Funky Solution'. Additionally,he runs a number of his own funk bands including 'Regroove Nation', 'The Groove Merchants', 'Awesome Funk Collective' and 'Funk School'. Visit the bands and gig listings page for more details of Carl's current live ventures.

Carl's work in the area of music education has extended to the role of Associate Lecturer for the PGCE Secondary Music course at MMU. As part of this role, he regularly sits on the recruitment panel for the Royal Northern College of Music. He also acts as a consultant in Music Technology and has delivered a number of professional INSET courses in this subject area. This is supported by his work as a qualified examiner for EDEXCEL. He is regularly called upon to work for Cheshire County Council and has recently acted as course leader and organiser of the successful Rock and Pop School. He has written online teaching support materials for the new Roland Education Website and National Curriculum materials for NAME (National Association of Music Educators).

The majority of Carl's time, however, is spent performing and creating music.Carl is a prolific composer who has composed music for several media commissions and his arranging portfolio spans numerous styles and ensembles.Carl also runs his own studio and is a competent recording engineer.
