Carl Brunsdon is a graduate of the City of Leeds College of Music. After studying for a degree in Jazz, Contemporary and Pop Music he pursued a post graduate course and qualified as a professional teacher. For ten years, he was a successful Head of Music at a secondary school in Cheshire. Carl still delivers music tuition in music technology, composition, saxophone, clarinet and bass and he is currently pursuing a career as a professional musician.
Carl's instruments include saxophone, clarinet, bass guitar, double bass, guitar, keys, drums and percussion. He currently employs these skills in a variety of bands and can be seen and heard regularly gigging both nationally and internationally. He has recently been appearing playing sax, bass, percussion, guitar and keyboards with 'The Australian Pink Floyd Show'. He has performed on sax with 'The Cheatles' and 'The New Mastersounds' and has played bass with 'Bernie Marsden (Whitesnake)', 'Mary Lee's Corvette', 'Chris Cook' and the 'Jim Kirkpatrick Band'. He also occasionally appears on the classical music circuit performing David Fanshawe's 'African Sanctus' with Simone Rebello's 'Backbeat'. Carl has also featured as a session musician and guest producer on a number of released tracks including Sonic Generation's acclaimed 'Absolute Magnitude' and 'Funky Solution'.
Carl's work in the area of music education has extended to the role of associate lecturer for the PGCE Secondary Music course at MMU. As part of this role, he regularly sits on the recruitment panel for the Royal Northern College of Music. He also acts as a consultant in Music Technology and has delivered a number of professional INSET courses in this subject area. This is supported by his work as a qualified examiner for EDEXCEL. He is regularly called upon to work for Cheshire County Council and has recently acted as course leader and organiser of the successful Rock and Pop School. He has written online teaching support materials for the new Roland Education Academies and National Curriculum materials for NAME (National Association of Music Educators).
The majority of Carl's time, however, is spent performing and creating music. Carl runs the re:groove studio and is a competent recording engineer. He has recorded, mixed and mastered several projects including much of his own material (check out some recent music in the projects section of this website). Carl is also a prolific composer and has composed music for several media commissions. His arranging portfolio has spanned numerous styles and diverse ensembles.
